Jason Esposito
Written by: Taylor McRae—Dredging Project Engineer
After five years of serving up food for the crew, BAYPORT cook Jason Esposito made his last crew meal in October 2024.
Known for his delicious meals and welcoming smile to everyone who entered the BAYPORT galley, Jason became an integral part of the crew—keeping their bellies full so they can be ready for a hard day’s work on many West Coast projects.
In his retirement, Jason looks forward to spending time with his family and learning how his “sea legs” fare on land.
Happy Retirement, Jason!

After six years with Manson, Marine Compliance Document Control Officer Lisa Miller announced her retirement in October 2024.
During her time with Manson, Lisa played an instrumental role in developing the Marine Compliance Group with manager Andrew O’Brien—streamlining processes and finetuning systems to keep Manson’s fleet compliant.
Reminiscing about her time with the company, Lisa is grateful for the opportunity to work with supportive colleagues who have helped her succeed in her role. Lisa is confident that the group will continue to evolve and find improvements to support Manson’s operations.

Congratulations to NEWPORT Dragtender Ramon Granada on his retirement after more than 20 years of service at Manson.
One of the original members of “the old folk’s home,”—a name used to describe the NEWPORT crew—Ramon joined Manson in 2004, reuniting with several friends that he worked with at B&B Dredging from 2001 to 2003.
During his tenure, Ramon worked on dozens of notable projects, including the Mobile Harbor Hopper Rental Maintenance Dredging job for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which required navigational dredging in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida.
We hope your retirement treats you well, Ramon!
Captain Ken Penwell
Written by: J.Anthony Tedpahogo—Marketing & Communications Coordinator
After 35 years with Manson, GLENN EDWARDS Captain Ken Penwell boarded the crew boat for the final time in December, marking the end of a remarkable career.
Ken joined Manson in the summer of 1989 and quickly became known as a dedicated and hardworking crew member. Over the years, he served in various roles across the NEWPORT, BAYPORT, and GLENN EDWARDS hopper dredges, including 2nd and 3rd Mate, Chief Mate, Relief Master, and ultimately Captain of the GLENN EDWARDS.
A steadfast and reliable leader, Ken was instrumental in shaping Manson’s dredging division in the early days, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and commitment.
Reflecting on his career at Manson, Ken had a few words to share:
“What started as just a few years on the NEWPORT back in ’89 as a new 3rd mate turned into a long career. Here it is 35 years later, and I am wrapping it up. I am grateful for a full career. Manson has been good to me, allowing me to raise a family and a great home life, and I now look forward to a comfortable retirement. Like any journey, there were ups and downs, but I enjoyed it. Best of all, I got to work alongside many great people because Manson attracts good-quality people who have made the company successful.”
Thank you all for being part of this remarkable chapter in my life.”
Congratulations, Ken!
